The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has extended their strike action by 3 months which starts from 12; 01 am on Monday, 2022.
ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Asodeke made the announcement via press statement, he said the union took the decision after the National Executive Council held an emergency meeting at their secretariat at the University of Abuja.
Prof. Asodeke said that after the extensive deliberation on the government intervention to end the strike action so far and discovered that the government has refused to live up to their responsibilities to the issues raised during the 2020 FGN/ASUU MOU, so the ASUU body decided to extend the strike action to 3 months to give the government time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.
Prof. Asodeke said that the union is very disappointed on the committee the Federal government set up to resolve the lingering strike issues, the committee have not called for a single meeting till date.
